Ang bayan ko'y tanging ikaw
Pilipinas kong mahal
Ang puso ko at buhay man
Sa iyo'y ibibigay
Tungkulin ko'y gagampanan
Na laging kang paglingkuran
Ang laya mo'y babantayan
Pilipinas kong hirang

The Movement was founded by a group of junior military officers who were disgruntled by the patronage politics and corruption in the Armed Forces of the Philippines in 1980. The RAM officers, most of whom were graduates of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1971, 1972, and 1978, cultivated their careers during the Martial Law Years (September 21, 1972 to January 17, 1981) during the dictatorship Ferdinand E. Marcos. As young graduates who joined the ranks of the military, these officers were tasked by the Marcos administration to execute its dictatorial powers. From being an apolitical and professional organization, the AFP during the Marcos administration became highly politicized, and promotions were given not through merit but through affiliation or patronage - in the Philippines this is better known as the Padrino System. The PMA Class of 1971 Matatag, spearheaded the struggle of RAM to "reform the service, foster nationalism and patriotism, and fight against corruption and criminal activities " As well as tackle the problem of favoritism, incompetence, and corruption in senior leadership." RAM became public in 1985 during the alumni homecoming of the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City. It was during the parade that members of Class of '71 came out with a banner saying "We Belong" to the bewildered crowd. "We Belong" meant that they were with the ranks of the RAM.

After the 1989 coup, the movement became inactive, it was registered at the Security and Exchange Commission as REBOLUSYONARYONG ALYANSANG MAKABANSA FOUNDATION, Most of the officers were granted amnesty  by the RAMOS administration some even get positions from the government.

In 2004 a young officer emerged, an idealistic and principled Class '78 West Point graduate. He was voted by the  RAM Executive committee as the National Chairman of the Movement. Bgen. Danilo D. Lim , a young blood who continued to fight for what is TRUE, JUST and RIGHT. He was part of a series of coup attempts to fight for good governance. He was jailed for almost seven years. When he was granted amnesty by the Aquino Administration on 2010, he ordered one of his trusted comrades to re-activate the Rebolusyonaryong Alyansang Makabansa (RAM) and have it registered as REBOLUSYONARYONG ALYANSANG MAKABANSA INC. and RAMGUARDIANS INC. (RGI) It's nature is a social movement that functions like an ( NGO ) Non- Government Organization or People's Organization (PO). RAM INC., and RAMGUARDIANS INC., objectives is to unify fraternal organizations like Young Officers Union ( YOU ), Soldier of the Filipino People ( SFP ), GUARDIANS , local and International organizations, movements that shares same aspirations and objectives with RAMGUARDIANS, and to involve them in socio-civic projects to help in their respective communities, to promote PEACE, UNITY and PROSPERITY for our country and its people thru constitutional, legal, democratic and non-violence means. RAM AND RAMGUARDIANS Incorporated was opened for civilian membership, in response to the rampant corrupt practices in our government and private agencies, we have to educate our people to help for the good of our country. The recruitment of new RAM  members started in Visayas and Mindanao, until it reached Luzon. The respect for the previous RAM members was still observed by the new RAM and RAMGUARDIANS , but the decision making comes from the National Chairman and its National officers. The main advocacy of the movement is to fight graft & corruption , protect our environment and natural resources, and the rest is history…….......
